Sensation of heat on back

Sensation of heat on back

When I am asleep, I experience an unusual sensation of heat on my upper and mid back.  When I turn over I will experience heat as if I had just rolled over on a heating pad. It goes away within 15-30 seconds but can happen several times in a night.  I don't get this sensation every night but it is disturbing when I get it.  I also find that I am warm and often sweating but it is a distinct heat sensation only on my back.  I have been having muscle and joint pain in my feet and hands for the last year. In the last two weeks I have had a sore throat. Can anyone explain the cause?

The symptoms are a bit vague and difficult to localize, but i wonder if you're having some symptoms of night sweats. In conjunction with the muscle and joint pain, it could represent a large number of things like an autoimmune disease such as lupus, menopausal symptoms (don't know your age and assume you're female), infection, anemia, as well as many other diseases. Talk to your primary care doc and have them take a look at your throat as well as your joints. Routine blood work to look at your electrolytes and blood count, thyroid function testing and possibly even an autoimmune panel are all a good start. Best of luck.
