Sensory Processing Disorder

My child is being tested for a sensory processing disorder by a clinical psychologist.  My concern is that she is 13 and has previously been diagnosed with ADD.  I learned that she does not have ADD and the medication she was taking caused her to become very depressed.  However, the medication did help with her anxiety for a while.  We had to remove her from school due to what seemed like a nervous break down.  Now, at home with less stress and outside stimulus she is doing much better.  I'm wondering what causes sensory processing disorder and should she see a neurologist before I accept the diagnoses?  She has already seen a psychiatrist that believed a sensory processing disorder was very likely the root cause of my daughters anxiety.

Hello.

Sensory processing disorder is a slight fault in the nervous system make up. If some injury occurs to the brain during or around the time of the birth, certain parts of the brain may not develop correctly. In addition to that, lack of proper stimulation may also be a cause.

The fault lies at the level where information is processed and converted into useful knowledge. It is at this stage that she has problems.
