Severe Arm and Neck Pain

I am hoping that someone has experienced similar symptoms and can provide me with some insight. For the past 10 months I have been in constant agony. The pain started as numbness in my hand and wrist which was diagnosed as tendinitis and carpal tunnel (I was spending 12-15 hours on a computer and carrying heavy books/bags). Physical therapy and hand therapy followed but provided only minimal relief. A hand surgeon ordered an EMG which showed up normal even though i was unable to button a shirt or drive a car because the pain in my right hand was so severe. At this point the pain in my neck also developed which I can only describe as a deep, sharp but achy pain that moves from near my shoulder blade up to the right side of my neck.

To make a long story short I have seen a rheumatologist (ruled out thoracic outlet syndrome), an orthapedic specialist (cortisone injections into the wrist), a neurologist (told me I was too young for nerve problems, I'm 22) and a neurosurgeon who recommended a cervical nerve root block.

They've ordered two MRIs of my neck which showed mild vertebral spurring on the c4 and c5 vertebrae, however, the neurosurgeon was still confused because my arm and hand pain are symptomatic of a problem at c6, which looked fine. At this point he's ordered a second EMG and i'm still unable to find any relief - anti-inflammatories are useless, heat and cold on neck or arm do not help, i've worn braces of all kinds, tried acupuncture, etc. I can't sit for longer than 20 minutes and cannot find any comfortable positions when the pain flares up. Does anyone have ANY IDEAS what this could be or what the most effective approach is? Should i get the nerve block?
