Severe Head Pressure

My mother has been complaining of severe head pressure.  She describes it as "it feels like my head is going to blow off".  She has a history of depression and stress and her Doctor insists that these are the causes of her head pressure.  The only testing I know that she's had done is a stress test.  I am trying to help her gather more information on her symptoms and possible causes.  Some of her other medical history is: Restless Leg Syndrome, high blood pressure, overweight but not obese, a persistant cough, and poor eating habits.  She was complaining yesterday and I took her blood pressure and it was 124/78, but then she told me she had taken a Xanex already.  What are some possible causes?  What tests are there that may help in a diagnosis?

Maybe a penial cyst (sp)....that would be the pituitary gland??

Getting her  to a dr that is very knowledgable on these topics is key.

I pray she feels better soon.

Thanks for responding.  I was talking to her a little more last night and she told me some more symptoms she's having.  Blurred vision, pulse in head, pain in her arms and leg, and dizziness.  Said she'll run into walls because she gets dizzy.  Then she told me that she had a catscan about two years ago and they found a cyst or tumor in her head.  She said it was on a gland but she couldn't remember what it was called.  The doctor told her it was nothing to worry about.  Then I asked her how long she's had this head pressure and she said two or three years.  Do you think the two could be related?  I'm reading a little on Intercranial Hypertension and a lot of the symptoms match.  I'm going to try to get her into a doctor.  Thanks!

Hi...have her checked by a NL(neurologist) for Intercranial hypertension.

High BP, restless legs and the feeling like her head could blow off....and the depression could be indications her brainstem is being affected.

Ask the dr to do a brain MRI...and a cervical spine MRI.....

I pray u find ur answers
