Severe headaches after craniectomy for adem

End of 2009 I was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with ADEM.  I was given a life saving craniotomy to relieve the swelling and about 2 months after the initial op, I underwent a craniectomy to replace the bone flap that had been removed.  This was about 7 weeks ago, and I get severe headaches and find I cannot lie on the side of my head operated on.  Is this to be expected given the surgery and how long will it take to calm down.  Headaches get better if I rest and are worse when I'm tired, but the whole of the side of my head that was operate don is very sorry and the skiun around the scar feels tight.  Can anyone offer me some advice?  I've had no after care so no chance to discuss this with my neurologist.
