Severe involuntary muscle cramps

My husband is 44 years old and is in the process of being tested for Motor Neuron Disease.  I don't know if this is something the doctor has specifically suggested or something my husband has decided on his own.  We are separated at this time but get along as though we are together.  Yet he refuses to include me in his doctor's appointments.  These are his symptoms - what do you think?  Severe muscle cramps randomly attacking his arm, leg, stomach, back, chest (the stomach/chest cramps are being the hardest to recover from)while at rest.  He did tell me the doctor told him his hormones are upside down and his testerone level is almost none.  The only medication I can confirm he's taking is "cialis" which he said is to help his low testerone level.  He says he is also taking a pill that he is to take 1 time every three days that is suppose to relax his muscles so the attacks aren't as hard and he can sleep better.  But he also said that if he takes it more often than prescribed it could stop his heart.  He won't tell me the name of it.  He feels as though it is fatal and he is dying.  I want to take it seriously and I hate to see him having these attacks, they seem extremely painful, but I don't see his symptoms relative to MND or ALS or Lou Gehrig's.  Please help!

modern medicine remedys,$ price-wise, are out of reach for the poor. It does sound like these imc's  are somewhat of  a mystery to some people as to why they occur. To others it is known. Extreme physical overexhertion, a lack of minerals, dehydration, repetitive motion with physical force, drastic weather changes,(eg.  28° in the early dawn and 75° by afternoon, florida seasonal winter; today, sultry summer 100+ six feet off the ground in the shade, you know).  From the construction workers in fla.  who cannot afford down time due to imc's, keeping in mind a working buddy standing with you can show his distorted hand, cramped, or forcing his arm straight from it drawing up, means they are done for the day, seriously. Here are the old  country remedy's I have seen used; depending on the individual, the speed of which item was used, recuperated them in short notice. Their cramps and involuntary muscle contractions would release and not return so suddenly.  Some had v8 vegetable juice, some the fruits of nature, citrus, bananas, pineapples, watetmelons, cantelopes, etc. Some saw the dried salt on their shirts from dried sweat and turn surmised this was a depleted mineral and, in turn would have a cup of salt water to replinish it. Some were advid about dilled pickles especially the juice, and in turn some packed vinegar in their lunchpails to drink straight in order to subjigate the horrific cramps. some were daily regiments, others as they were needed.  Last of all the newly arrived first generation Americans had a thing for hot pepper sauce to counterbalance against cramps.  I noticed upon sampling some remedy hot sauce the vinegar perservative.  Best advice from these country remedys is the v8,salt,or vinegar will shock the cramp away about as quick as it shocked you when it started to painfully knot up,move around, or just cease to desist.  Kinda like the old timer said proofs in the pudding...try some, then you will know.

I have very similar symptoms like her husband. It happens suddenly. After certain movement. It usually starts under my left chest or stomach.  After happenning at one place to protect the pain, when i try to relax, another area starts to spasm. Sometime i feel i am dieing. I checked thorowly. Cardiac situation is fine, bad colestorel is at margin and i need to reduce, bp is fine. Doctor suggested to take vitamin e supplyment, and some time myospas, which is a variant of paracetamol with muscle relaxing chemical. I am suggested to take only on frequent spasm else not. My spasm occurs very frequently. Mostly in cold more. I am 40, male. . . JOHN FROM BANGLADESH

My latest concern is that my husband isn't interested in agetting a second opinion - which I think is really stupid when you're looking at possibly dying.  His attitude is "the doctors know what they're doing....I don't care what it is...just what can they do for me".  How can I convince him to get a second opinion?

I don't know the reasons for your husband not giving you more information, but he has the right to have his medical information kept confidential

To respect his wish for privacy I am limited in my ability to answer you, also due to the limited information you provide, I cannot give you specific answers to your questions

Muscle cramps are relatively nonspecific and could be caused by a number of neurological and nonneurological conditions. Maybe you could talk to him, tell him about the website and the two of you submit a question with more specific information?

Good luck
