Sharp Knee Pain---ANY HELP?:(

I am a 23 year old female... I have no history of injury to my leg or knee at all. I am moderately active but not over-active enough to cause any injury to my leg/knee. For the past 6 months I have been experiencing sudden and sharp pains which seem to generate from the side-back area of my left knee. It is only in my left knee also. It generates a sharp pain down my entire leg... it also becomes tight. And I often experience tingling and numbing of my foot in association with it! At this point I have no visible swelling, no redness, and its hard for me to even pinpoint the exact location within my knee that this pain is coming from. The pain comes suddenly, even while riding in a car... but it is becoming more and more frequent! I am miserable.... but I don't know whether this is serious? or what is going on with me? I have researched everything on web md and nothing matches my symptoms!!??:( I really need any advice and help I can get!!  ANY IDEAS??? Thanks to all!

Sharp pains with tingling numbness indicate a pinched nerve or a nerve compression.
I would advise you please consult a doctor and undergo a complete clinical exam and some tests like an X ray or a CT scan.
