Sharp Pain behind left ear at top of jaw bone
Hello,

I am a sixteen year old male and have been randomly receiving sharp pains behind my left ear at the top of my jaw bone. It is really annoying and hurts pretty bad. It comes and goes, but is starting to occur more frequently. I'm 6'3'' and 135 lbs. I run forty-five miles a week, so about 6 miles a day. I don't know if that could have anything to do with it. I run to train for Cross Country and Track, I don't have eating disorders or anything.

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation, it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include infections, inflammations, neuro-muscular causes, injuries, micronutrient deficiencies, vascular causes, joint/ bone abnormalities, growths/ masses etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
