Sharp shooting pains, Burning, in fifth metatarsal with numbness in left leg

For several months I have had right below my left knee a nerve that stings when touched. The area around it stays numb. My left foot at the biggest part of the fifth metatarsal has shooting, burning pain that comes and goes. Everytime I sit down and elevate my feet in a recliner for more than ten minutes, when resuming standing, my heels, metatarsals, and feet in general hurt tremendously when resuming standing. I feel crippled for about one minute walking. Then the pain subsides for the most part. The back of my heels (both feet) also hurt as if the tendons are shrinking and need to be stretched. This happens especially first thing in the morning. Please can anyone tell me what is happening?

Hello  vonbaron,

Was there any injury to your spine? You should consult an neurophysician and get  a x-ray and if required a MRI done ,.There is possibility of some of degenerative spine change, nerve compression which requires complete evaluation.

Plantar Fascitis is always a possiblity. It causes pain in the heels in particular with it being worse when you get up after sitting and yes in the morning it is terrible. The pain can also run across the bottom of your foot as the fascia that runs across there is inflammed and irritated. I had this and I was miserable. I saw an orthopedic specialist and had some physical therapy and achilles tendon stretches. I also buy new GOOD tennis shoes about every 3-6 months th give your feet good support. The numbness and stinging though I don't know about. Wish you well.
