Shingles and Lymes disease

I got Lymes disease several years ago and have continued to have some residual pain. Two years ago I took the vaccine for Shingles and developed shingles. I am having considerable pain in my legs, knees, feet, elbows and hands. Some joint swelling. It is actually becoming difficult to walk. I am really at a loss as to what type of a physician that I should see. I am 61 yrs old.

Thank you for using the forum. It would be best to be evaluated by a general practioner. If he/she feels that you continue to have active Lyme disease infection, which can cause joint pains and swelling, it may be best for you to be referred to an infectious disease specialist. If your joint aches are not determined to be from Lyme disease or other infections, then a rheumatologist may be able to help you. Good luck.
