Shocking pain when I turn my head quickly

I just wanted to comment on the other 2 people who described this problem.  I too have had this problem since I was very young.  It happens exactly as the other 2 folks described it but for me it can go away for years and then suddenly come back but it tends to only happen when I turn my head quickly to look next to me or behind me.  I've noticed that it came back (after years of nothing happening) when I started to have a lot of neck and shoulder tension so I suspect tight muscles or fascia or even my joint problems in my upper back and neck are contributing to this problem.  The scariest episode I had was when I (as a kid) jumped off something and tried to spin in the air so when I turned my head quickly in the direction of my spin, the shocking pain or snapping inside my head was so bad that I felt a wave of numbness/tingling all over the back of my head and then my tongue went numb and I almost felt like I could not move my tongue.  The pain in my head was so bad it felt like my head was about to explode.  After several minutes it all went away.

This discussion is related to shocking pain when turning head.

I am only 16 and I have been getting these pains fro as long as I can remember. I usually get them every 4-5 months but a few years ago, it paused for about 3 years and is now back. Usually, I turn my head and a shock hits the back of my head on the right side and makes that side of my face pull. Half of my face temporarily goes numb for a split second and the pain only lasts a minute or two after leaving a slight burning sensation in my right ear and eye and my cheek usually hurts for the longest. As a kid, I thought it was common but as I have gotten older and discussed it with friends, I am starting to get concerned about it. It has been getting more and more painful each occurrence and it is really awkward when it happens and I am talking to people. And I am especially scared for when I start driving and if it happens while I am in control of a vehicle, that I might crash. Help?
