Shooting pain in right arm

Since Feb. I had trouble with my shoulders but that healed. But now I am having pain in my right elbow. It hurts to raise my right arm. And when I do I feel a very painful sharp sensation in my right arm. At night it hurts the most. To pick up even small objects is very painful to me. I am wondering what is wrong with me.  Sometimes I will feel a slight sensation in my right thumb and wrist but it goes away.

Hi there.

I'm sorry to hear that you are in this much pain.  From what you have described, it seems to me that you really have problems with your nerves.  There can be compression of the nerves coming from any level, most commonly from the origins of the nerves in the spine.  Other than compression, primary neuropathy problems can come from deficiency in essential vitamins and minerals such as the B vitamins and calcium, as well as not so common conditions such as MS or ALS.  I suggest that you have this looked at by your doctor who may request tests like NCV (nerve conduction velocity) or EMG to assess the nerves and muscles respectively.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your help. I went to my doctor on Thursday and he told me that I have tennis Elbow. Right now he had me get a tennis elbow cast. And has me putting ice on in ten minutes 4 times a day. I really appreciate all the help that you gave me.
