Hi,
Shoulder dislocation is treated by reduction. The dislocated shoulder is relocated to its normal position. This is done under the influence of sedatives. In some cases an anaesthetic may be required.
At home treatment of shoulder dislocation is immobilizing the shoulder joint in a sling and taking pain killers to reduce pain and swelling.
As an aside, this most recent injury occured roughly 6 weeks ago. I am scheduled for an MRI this week.
Thank you. I actually thought that might be the case. There is a visible difference in the appearance of the should that is injured. What is required to fix a dislocated shoulder? Do they just"pop" it back in?
Thank you again.
Hi,
It is quite possible from what you describe you have experienced is shoulder dislocation.
This dislocation can be partial or complete. Forward dislocations are most common and common symptoms are decreased range of motions, numbness and swelling.
Exact diagnosis can only be made by examination.
The orthopaedician may order an Xray to confirm the diagnosis.
