Shoulder/arm pain

Shoulder/arm pain

I'm a 56 year old man who was diagnosed with PD last year.  I’m traveling and in the Philippines at the moment, so I am a long way from my GP.  I noticed, about 2 weeks ago, a nagging aching pain in my shoulder about midway between my neck and the point of my shoulder.  I assumed that this was caused by carrying a heavy bag.  However, upon getting up, the last 2 days, I have experienced excruciating shooting pains down my right arm, centered around my upper arm.  This pain is alleviated somewhat by raising my arm above my head.  The pain also occurs when I bend to pick something up and I feel weakness in my right arm together with pins and needles tingling sensation in my fingers.  After about an hour the arm pain abates a little although I still feel discomfort in my shoulder and arm.

I attended a local hospital and the doctor there diagnosed it as a pinched nerve.  I am resting up at the moment, hoping that the problem subsides, taking ibuprofen and applying ice packs to my shoulder.

Thank you
