Significance of nausea upon pressure applied to suboccipital muscles

What is the significance of nausea when pressure is applied to the suboccipital muscles?  I have had headaches, necck pain and been sent to spine PT after a negative cat scan.  I did have an abnormal MRI that was non specific, just noting 8 2-3 mm hyperintese foci on T2 and FLAIR.  Also an area adjacent to the left Lateral ventricle was noted as questionable abnormal signal on the sagital view.  I have been dizzy and notice vision changes if that helps

By the way the nausea comes on likely due to the overstimulation of the vestibular nucleus by in what I bet is coming from upper cervical dysfunction.  Hope that helps your symptoms can be luminaries if you find the right person but this is new emerging data so it is hard to find folks keep looking until you do

Your symptoms of dizziness are probably cervicogenic dizziness which comes from error signals sent by stretch receptor rich sub occipital muscles.   Your headache is likely from dysfunction of the upper cervical spine
You should find a physical therapist trained in both vestibular rehabilitation and manual therapy which is a rare combination.  Robert (Rob) Landel of USC teaches this and my have a list of qualified therapists near you.
