Sleeping - Posture

I have read many details about MRI results etc..in this forum and it looks like I have joined your club. After having headaches and arm pain for 2 years, the right doc finally looked at my c-spine and I have moderate disc protrusion at c4/c5 and c5/c6 and that (c5/c6) is pressing against the chord. He is setting up an appt at a Spine center and in the interim told me to take it real easy. Stupid question, but is there anything I can do in the interim to relieve the neck pain other than Advil - for example my sleeping habits are terrible - I sleep with three pillows under my head...good or bad? Should I support the neck in a different way when I sleep? Again, sorry for the lame question. - Mike

I had posterior spinal fusion when I was 16, and after the surgery what helped for the pain was sleeping at a 45% angle and trying to be as straight as possible.
