Small Fiber Neuropathy, Just Diagnosed

I was just diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy with an EMG/NCV test, I heard that it wasn't possible to do such a thing with this test? The Neurosurgeon tested the nerves on bottom of feet and they had NO response. My feet do burn horribly and it feels as if I'm walking on broken glass half the time. I also have Neuropathy in the nerves on the out-side of knee. The prodoximal? or so?
Does this sound appropriately diagnosed, is it possible to detect Small Fiber on an EMG/NCV?
