Small retention cyst in my right Maxillary sinus

i kept getting dizzy and finally passed out and had to go to the ER and they said possible fluid in my ears. i have some sinus trouble but nothing ever like this before. They did a CT scan and told me it looked fine except he said sinus congestion and small retention cyst in my right Maxilliary sinus? They are sending me to a neurologist because of the intense pressure in my entire head but if it has anything to do with this cyst why not an ENT? could  a cyst cause pressure and dizziness?

It can cause dizziness. I had a problem when I would bend over, and then lift up real quick. I had an infection for about 2 1/2 months that would not get better. I was sent to the ENT where they found infection and a Retention Cyst. He put me on Clindamycin 300mg four times a day, Flonase, and a decongestant to see if my symptoms would improve. They did not, so he recommended surgery. After the surgery, and a few weeks later, I could breath better then I could my whole life. After the surgery the dizziness was gone. Most ENTs will not worry about the cysts, but if you are symptomatic, then you will probably need it removed. If you need anything else please feel free to write back.

Thanks for this post! I have had similar trouble, including sinus problems, dizziness and headaches for some time now. Surprisingly, a mucous retention cyst was found on the left sphenoid and left maxillary sinus during an MRI on my neck for chronic cervical spine problems. Who knew? What a strange way to find out about this cyst! Now I know to follow up with my Primary Care doc about this cyst and not just ignore it as my spine specialist did. Thanks again!

By all means, get a referral to an ENT.  I had chronic sinus problems for years, but my primary care drs never thought that my problem was bad enough to bother giving me a referral. I finally got a referral when my husband diagnosed the sleep apnea that I was born with. The CT scan of my sinuses confirmed that I had multiple problems (some congenital, some hereditary in nature).  I have had three surgeries on my nose and throat in the last two years.  I am going to have another soon. Each one has made me feel better. I am so happy that my hubby diagnosed my OAS which was due to a congenital deformity. My primary care drs all tested me for thyroid problems but never considered a sleep disorder. My primary cares threw antibiotics at me for years but wouldn't send me to an ENT until the sleep dr said to.

By all means, follow up with an ENT.  By all means, follow up with a neurologist.  The possibility of having one problem doesn't mean that you can't have the other!
