Some advice and suggestions.

My boyfriend had a horrific accident last year which left him with 3 skull fractures and part of his brain crushed. He has ADHD but his moods have become uncontrolable lately... Could there be anything long term?

Any suggestions on how to control this would be grateful.

Hi there.

With any accident or major trauma, getting psychological support and counseling is equally important as receiving the primary treatment.  Sometimes, traumatic periods in a person's life can really impact and exhaust the psyche and these present mood problems may be a manifestation of such impact.  Also part of the accident, there can be organic changes in the brain (changes in neurotransmitters and other chemicals) that may affect mood and behavior.  I suggest that aside from the usual physical treatments, it should also be discussed with his doctors regarding counseling and providing psychosocial support.  Regards and God bless.

Thank you, but it's hard to get him to see a doctor because he thinks there is nothing wrong. He is going to see a brain specialist next month but i'm not sure that they will do anything. He has also become deaf in the right ear.

Is this usual?
