Speech Problems...

Firstly, I want to thank the doctors and everyone else associated with this forum for providing us with this resource. Thanks for answering my question as to whether it's a TIA or stroke on March 26. Update - I'm still waiting for an appointment with the neurologist regarding my speech problems, which comes and goes. Is there anything in the face that might get affected because of cold weather - not very cold, but about 45 degrees, certainly not freezing. Also my gum line has receeded  bit and exposes more of my teeth ( nerve / root ?) . Can this cause difficulty with speech.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dear Nmum:

Gum line ression usually will not cause speech problems, only tooth sensitivity.  Af far as cold tempatures causing speech problems, yes if the weather is real cold, people have difficulty in pronouncing certain sounds like m's or n's.  But this usually only occurs at very low tempatures and not at warmer temps such as 45.

Sincerely,

CCF Neuro MD
