Spinal Cord Syrinx

Spinal Cord Syrinx

Hi I had an MRI in which a syrinx was shown. It is about 4.5 cm long and is 6mm wide. However, i do not have any symptoms so I was wondering if this is a slit like syrinx, a persistent central canal or anything else. Has anybody ever had anything like this. I appreciate your answers.

Hi, not all with a syrinx do experience symptoms unless the syrinx is wide and creates an issue with compressing nerves.

Location  is also something to consider.....sometimes, symptoms from a syrinx is the fact u do not feel pain, so the absence of pain, heat or cold can be a symptom, but may be overlooked.

U may want to talk with others that also have a syrinx or syringomyelia...we have a few members in the Chiari forum as they r related conditions.-http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Chiari-Malformation/show/257?camp=msc
