Spinal cord tethering and lipoma

I am a 50 year old female who had never had a back pain in my life until 2 years ago.  It was discovered I had a tethered cord and lipoma, etc. since birth with no symptoms until then.  I had 3 surgeries with the third one detethering the cord.  This left me incontinent and without feeling in about 80% of my lower body.  I just found out that it appears that the cord is retethering which is causing pain in the 20% of my lower body I can actually feel.  Based on my personal history, I have to disagree with previous posters that spinal cord tethering should not be considered in their child's case.

Although I had symptoms my whole life, I was only recently diagnosed with tethered cord and lipomas, and surgery followed immediately with a Baylor College of Medicine neurosurgeon at a major teaching hospital. The diagnosis was tough, as well as the surgery and recovery, but it brought an explanation for my lifetime of symptoms and relief for almost of the pain.
I sincerely wish a good outcome for you.
