Spinal tap / lumbar puncture anyone?

I had a lumbar puncture / spinal tap done about a month ago.  It went well and wasn't very painful.  The next evening I developed a very bad headache which has lasted 24/7 for the last month.  I had a blood patch 2 weeks ago which did nothing and last week my doctor did an MRI which showed nothing too.   My pain is in my head, front, back, top and sides. I have neck pain and upper back pain.  My low back isn't that bad.  I am not a headache person, I get a headache maybe 2 times a year so this is a result of the lumbar puncture.  Has anyone experienced this?  Anyone know what this could be or know of anything to help? Why the upper back and neck pain too? Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

I was in Providence RI with menegitus. A LP was performed and immediatly I had a horrid headache and the Doctor gave me some Morphine. I have suffered for 3 months with intense horrid migraines and the Doctors in providence told me that the lost spinal fluid will rebuild itself and my migraines will go away. Can I get a blood patch now or is it too late?  Thanks........Raven

My daughter had the spinal tap done and also had the spinal headache so severe for 4 days that she could not get up at all.  She had the blood patch and after 2 days that headache was gone.  But she has a large bump where the blood patch was done and it still feels bruised in that area.  The patch was done 7 weeks ago.  We were wondering if she should still have the pain and bump to the area of the blood patch.

I had the worst headache ever after LP, ended up admitted in the hospital.  It lasted about a week.   It was all over my head and in my neck as well.  Seems like your symptoms have been present too long for it to be related but I'm not a doctor.

Thanks for the reply.  Would you say that you felt bad for about 2 months?  Hope you are feeling better now.

I had the blood patch about a month ago after 4 days of horrible headache from lp. I could feel the difference in pain right after. For a few weeks later I had a  strange headache. When I would stand it would throb in my back neck and head. It takes a while to recover. But if you didnt feel a little better afer you might have to have another one. Good luck
