Spinal tap, any advice?

Im up for my 1st spinal tap! (scary) any advice?

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
I can understand your anxiety, please check the link below as this will help you in understanding the procedure. Please make sure you are relaxed, since anxiety will only increase the CSF pressure.
It is common to get headache and nausea after the procedure. The headache responds to analgesics. It is important to maintain supine posture for at least 2 hrs after the procedure.

Thanks again for your advice, I will check out that link to get more info.

I have another question; on the day of the procedure I will have my menstrual period,would this complicate things or is it totally irrelevant, should my neuro be aware it?
