My 11 yr old has rolandic epilepsy and I've been in contact with Dr. Pal from a great research study... they have a website, www.rolandic.com. Perhaps you can find some info there.

I have been diagnosed with nocturnal seizures from a neurologist at Bethesda Hospital in DC.  Mine were occurring only every 4 yrs or more and I just had 2 in the last two years.  I'm wondering if they are getting worse or if they can start happening more often.

My son has nocturnal seizures now for 8 years.  Was originally diagnosed with migraines which eventually turned into complex partials over a course of 2 years. He rarely has seizures during wake hours, typically just an hour or so before he wakes up.  He makes a squeeling noise just seconds prior and then goes into a tonic phase for up to a minute. He has post seizure confusion in which he can get up and walk around, his speech is somewhat incoherant and I can normally lead him back to his bed and he'll go back to sleep.  He doesnt' recall these events but can usually tell if hes had an episode as he feels off and his neck is usually sore.  One think I know for certain is changes in the barometric pressure will trigger his seizures (as with stress and sleep dep). I can't find a lot of information on this but its a fact. He had left temp. lobe surgery almost 2 years ago, reduced his seizures initially, but over time he's been getting them more often.
I am very interested in your study as there's not much information on nocturnal epilepsy so I hope your still researching (just noticed the post date).

thanks
