Just google the syndrome--it is a very serious side effect an you definitely need to ask yourself it the benefits of the drug outweigh the risks--I'll bet it is for some type of pain management--czu if it were for the primary indication--epilepsy--you, of course, would be less hesitant in taking this drug.

I took this drug for also another "off label" use and after 3 months of no change  and just not liking taking a drug that was so nasty I just took myself off it gradually.

Does that help---David

Hi David.......yes that helps.......and you're correct in that I'm taking the Neurontin for the relief of some inbearable pains......sharp......shooting.......electrical in nature that I used to get......almost weekly.......they came every tweny to thirty seconds.......lasting 24/7 for as much as three days.........since I've been on Neuronton, 3600 mg/day.......since 2002......I haven't suffered from those horrible pains.......pain that even the strongest narcotics couldn't touch.......so......no matter how serious the side effects........the quality of my life before.......compared to now.......well.....thee is no comparison.......so....I certainly will google the Stephen-Johnson symdrome.........but........it would have to be something just a little short of death.......to change my mind about taking it.......As I'm sure you know........everything in life......is relative.......thanks for the heads up though.......you were very nice to respond.........peace and love.......Norma

Thank you both for the alert to stephen-Johnson Syndrome.......I've googled it and done some extensive reading about it.........fortunately for me.......as a very serious side effect........it's very rare.......and particularly I.......do not show any signs of having an adverse effect to the Neurontin that I've been taking for over six years.............The side effects.......if an allergic reaction occurs.......are indeed serious enough to stop taking the drug.......and I'd be in for another exhaustive search for something to control the awful neurologic pain I suffer as a result of my incomplete spinal injury..........But........again I want to thank you both for responding to my request for assistance........you've both been extremely kind...............peace and love.......Norma
