Stool Leaking

Dear Doctor,
Stool is leaking from rectum into anus. My G.I. Doc said that the nerves in the internal sphincter muscle are not sending messages to my brain.
What kind of doctor can help me with this problem? I also have small fiber neuropathy in my legs & thighs, and immense lower back pain, diagnosed as stemming from the medial branch nerves.
Thank You,
Sheila

I saw a Neuro, who originally diagnosed me with MS, then, retracted his diagnose, because he didn't want to "label" me with MS, even after my G.I. Doc called him and confirmed that I had lost all nerve sensation in my internal anal sphincter, and it was definitely an MS symptoms, because everything else had been ruled out. And I have other MS symptoms.

I'm waiting now, for an appt, with a Neuro who specializes in MS.

Thank you so much for your reply.

Sounds like you have a pretty good take on what is wrong with me.

Sheila

You should visit a neurologist, perferably a group practice, and he will be able to not only perhaps help you with how your digestive muscles are working, but also the neuropathy, and especially he can find out why your lower back is hurting so much, which may be the source of ALL your symptoms.
