Hi.

The prognosis of your father's eyesight, memory and use of his right hand would depend on the initial severity of the stroke that he suffered, His doctor would be in the best position to answer concerns about this.

The American Heart Association (AHA) does recommend that a regular exercise program be done as part of the rehabilitation of stroke survivors. Although there are general recommendations on what should be in the program, each exercise regimen should be unique and tailored to the needs of the patient and should be developed in consultation with their doctor. Before starting the exercise program it is essential for the patient to undergo a complete medical evaluation to see how fit he or she is for the regimen.Aerobic Exercise:

The regimen should include the following:

- Aerobic exercise via treadmill for 20 to 60 minutes for three to seven days a week.

- Strength training with resistance or light weights two to three times per week for the muscle weakness.

- Stretching and flexibility Exercises two to three times per week performed either before or after the aerobic or strength training exercises to treat difficulties in raising arms and moving legs.

- Balance and coordination exercises to prevent falls:

Hope this is of some help to your father.

Good luck.
