Sumatriptan drug interaction

Sumatriptan drug interaction

Posted By Trisha on December 14, 1998 at 09:18:16:

I have been recently commenced on Zoloft (Sertraline HCI 50 mgs, 1 mane).   I get frequent migraine from my cervical spine problem and suffer from them prior to and after menstruation.  The migraine will often persist for days, and at times will continue on/off for 2wks.   I take Sumatriptan whenever the migraine reaches the unbearable stage.   Otherwise I manage with Mersyndol tabs and may add aspirin.
The pharmacist warned me that Sertraline & Sumatriptan should not be used together.   I was advised to cease the Sumatriptan.   My GP wants me to continue with the Sertraline but has not suggested another choice of drug for my severe migraine attacks.    Something inplace of the Sumatriptan that may resolve the pain in a similar way.    What is your opinion regarding the interaction of these two drugs (Sertraline & Sumatriptan).   Can you suggest another medication that I might be able to take for my severe migraine attack.   I currently have sudden onset of hypertension, am on Propranolol  160 mgs, and chlorothiazide 500 mgs daily.   Under care of a physician for the > BP.    My GP was at a loss as to what could be prescribed for me.
