Sympathectomy and it's many side effects

Sympathectomy and it's many side effects

Hello,
I underwent two cervical Sympathectomiies in 1975 at the age of 16----the stellate ganglion was purposely removed on ny left side for reasons best known to the Surgeon----I obviously developed a "full blown" Horner's but was told the nerve was only cosmetic and no great loss----33 years on I am still  plagued with awful side effects in my head and wondered if you could help with ANY of them!!!
The questions are:-
1) What is best and longer lasting by way of drops as my eye is getting progressively drier and more uncomfortable with time!

2) My vision continues to deteriorate making "seeing" very uncomfortable----I wear glasses but they dont really help----is laser correction not an option as my eye has sustained nerological damage----can you advise me!

3) My nose is always blocked and I have had two lots of surgery to put it right-----this has not helped and I am on nasal steroids for life---I have also lost my sense of smell on the Horner's side----is there anything that will help with the nasal blockage as drugs aren't the answer----can something be implanted in my nose to help me breathe!

4) My mouth is always very dry----is there a drug which helps stimulate the production of saliva!

5) My hair is falling out and much thinner on the Horner's side---this is documented as a possible side effect of Sympathetic dennervation-----can anything be done to halt this!

6) I have a terrible permanent pain radiating from my left eye into the back of my head'neck----it is very debilitating and I get no relief at all----turning my head to the left makes it worse----I haven't had my Ptosis corrected and wondered if "forcing" my lid open might be contributing---any suggestions!

7) I have totally lost my sex drive----this happened decades ago and I am sure is a result of the Sympathectomy----what can be done!

Apart from sweating profusely all over my body now the listed side effects are the worst and hardest to live with----ANY help you can offer would be greatly appreciated

Hi Dear,

I understand your problem.
There is only symptomatic relief.
Use artifical tears for the dry eyes. Drink plenty of fluids.
Consult and follow up with your neurologist on a regular basis.

Take care.
