Hi, I'm a 16 year old and have been experiencing spells of dizziness for about the last year as well as random numbnessNumbness and tingling/tingling in my toes, feet, fingersAmputated finger Amyloidosis on the fingers Clubbed fingers Cryoglobulinemia - of the fingers Finger pain Herpes zoster (shingles) on the hand and fingers Janeway lesion on the finger Kawasaki's disease, peeling of the fingertips Nail abnormalities Replantation of digits Ringworm, tinea manuum on the finger, and handsHand or foot spasms Hand tremor. I am currently on zoloft for depression and sleep related problems but am coming off the medication with lowered dosages I also take loestrinLoestrin 21 1.5/30 Loestrin 21 1/20 Loestrin 24 fe Loestrin fe 1.5/30 Loestrin fe 1/20. The last few times I was outside without any intense physical activity I experienced a numbnessNumbness and tingling in my right foot followed minutes later by a blackout which would have resulted in me fainting had it not been for the fact that I have fainted before and can recognize when I am about to pass out before actually hitting the ground. after allowing the blood to return to my head and resting in a laying down position with my knees bent and up, I experienced a complete relapse of the same event only a few short minutes after attempting to walk again. Drinking water seemed to help rid me of the seemingly pattern of fainting and regaining consciousness and it happened on two nonconsecutive days both the same situation, the element of heat outside being a possible factor, and the lack of any overpowering physical activity. My question is whether or not these episodes could be related to the exposure to the heat (which on both occurances mentioned was roughly 30 minutes in lets say 86 degree weather), to withdrawl from the zoloft (of which I am currently taking 25 mg every other day to ween me off), or some undected neurological misfunction that should be tested for. thank you for your consideration.
Hello Dear,
Dizzinesss may happen when there is not enough blood getting to the brain. This can happen if there is a sudden drop blood pressure , dehydrated from vomiting, diarrhea, fever, ear conditions, balance disorders, anaemia or other causes. If fainting is associated it is known as syncope. You can ref http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003093.htm.You should consult a neurologist about this.
Best
The possible causes of your symptoms are - medication withdrawal, heat stroke, dehydration, low blood sugar, side effect of the medication you are taking or vaso vagal syncope.
There is no way to attribute the symptoms to any one diagnosis without a complete clinical examination.
You should consult your doctor about the symptoms you are having.
