Syrinx Surgery
I have congenital non-communicating hydrocephalus which after multiple shunts was under control with a VA shunt when I was 15. I developed scoliosis which as corrected using a Dwyer Oseotomy.
I have been a marathon runner till I was 52.
In the last 5 years my running dteriorated to the point I now use a walker, have numbness in my extremeties and am completely out of balance now.
An MRI 2 months ago showed I have syrinx through my entire spine!
Are their options available such as shunting?
Can it correct what has happened up to now?
I am scared1

Right now I am awaiting a appointment with my neurosurgeon.
What physical therapy such a rigorous exercise will help me "break even" with the debilitating affect of the syrinx?
