My wife had been advised by a doctor to take MRI of brain and in the report it is said "a few hyperintense foci seen in periventricular and subcortical white matter (suggetive of microvascular angiopathy) i want to know what it means, and whether this is any major diesease which should be operated or can be cured by medicines.  Please let me know what leads to this.  My wife age is about 39 yrs.

Hi khan65

You really need clinical followup by your wife's doctor for a proper answer.   Mine read like that is part when I first got MS.  It could also be indicative of 'mini strokes' or vasculitis. Both can be helped by various medicinal protocols.  I know both present that way.  On the other hand, they could be artifacts meaning nothing.

I know it is scary to read, but only her doctor can tell you b/c there needs to be some clinical correlation.  You also didn't mention what your wife's symptoms were which prompted the doctor to order the MRI.

So please don't make yourself crazy thinking the worst of the worst.  I had the same MRI results at her age  but with a few more lesions and I'm now a lot older.

She'll be around a long long time to grow old with you!
