TBI and Endocrine issues

Hi!!I  have some odd endocrine things going on....ACTH=6, Am Cortisol=9(serum), DHEA-S=34, FT4=0.68...and at 28 I was dx. with premaPremature Ovarian Failure....my question is, could a TBI be causing my problems.  I sustained a fracture at C5-C6 at age 11 from a diving accident.  I had a serious concussion complete with vomiting, forgetfulness, and my hair fell out at the sight of impact which was the back of my skull.  I think I may have Hypopituitary issues stemming from this accident....is it possible???  My blood levels appear to be leaning that way....I'm now 40 and I'm concerned about how my endocrine system is acting...I'm tired ALOT, weight gain, and basic "out of whack " feeling.  ANY input woukld be GREAT...I just don't no what to do....  Jen in NJ

First of all, keep in mind that I am unable to diagnose you because I am unable to examine you, this forum is for educational purposes.
Pituitary dysfunction after traumatic brain injury (TBI) is very common.  Some studies have suggested that 25% of TBI patients with have post-traumatic hypopituitarism (PTHP).  Some of the neuro-psychiatric complications of TBI such as personality changes, aggressive behavior, depression etc are now thought to be contributed by post-traumatic hypopituitarism (PTHP) (was previously thought to be due to 'axonal shearing' alone that occurs during the injury- probably both contribute to these changes).  It sounds like you are having the appropriate testing and I hope that supplementation may make a difference for you.
I hope this has been helpful.
