I had Lyme Disease and it devastated my nervous system.  There are no definitive tests for Lyme despite what ill informed doc's will tell you.  The only real proof is if you take the antibiotics and get really sick then get slowly better and sick and better ...etc.  It is the same type of organism as syphillis (syphilis), which was known as, "The Great Imitator".  It can look like a hundred different diseases and fool specialists.  It took several specialists over a year, before I self-referred to a General Practice/Primary Care/Pediatrician who looked at all the, "No you don't have this disease or that disease" all the year of no help for me....and started me on a trial of Lyme antibiotics. "If you don't have Lyme these won't hurt you. If you do have Lyme you may get really sick." 3 days later, I was sick as a dog.
