TMJ & facial paralysis

TMJ & facial paralysis

My husband is 60 years old and was in a car accident recently.  He had a neck injury and lower back pain.  After 3 days he noticed that his tongue was numb and numbness in his right leg. He has pain in his jaw and around his left ear.  He then noticed that his eye lid was droopy and his mouth was slack.  His doctor first diagnosed TMJ and then his whole left side of his face was drooping and his speech was slurred.  He had a cat scan and it ruled out stroke and his doctor still says TMJ not Bell"s Palsy.  What do you think?

As your husband had a neck injury and lower back pain and gradual loss of sensation and pain  the doctor diagnosed it as Tempero mandibular  joint disorder.
But i also think that he might have injured his facial nerve which is causing all the defects.
Bell's palsy is a paralysis of cranial nerve VII (the facial nerve) resulting in inability to control facial muscles on the affected side.
Please also take a neurologist's view.
Take care!
