: I just wanted to let you know that thank g-d my brother is doing well, he went back to the doctor this past Monday and he was surprised and pleased at his rate of recovery.  His strength in his hand is much better and hopefully he should have a complete recovery.  Thanks

: : First of all, thanks for the information in response to "undiagnosed brother"  (see September 10)  I was just wondering how long the recovery should be for someone with Transverse Myelitis?  Are we talking weeks or months (or longer?)  They are starting to decrease his medication but he doesn't really talk about how his hand feels as far as wether or not his sense of feeling has come back in his left hand and we don't want to "get on his case" so to speak and make him nervous about it.  Thanks for the forum.  It's a real good source of information.

Dear Chanie,
I am glad to hear that your brother is doing better- Good Luck!

: If it was an inflammatory transverse myelitis then recovery generally begins within weeks to months
: and can progress up to 1 year.  The maximum amount of recovery is generally seen in the first few months.
: I hope that this is helpful, if you would like to see a neurologist that specializes in myelopathies call the Mellen Center 216-444-8600.
