TWISTED KNEE REPLACEMENT KNEE, safe to use tens unit on it?

I just need to ask you all if I can use my tens unit on my total knee replacement. I had my knee brace on but I twisted my knee the other day when I was standing on a rubberized floor mat. My knee went one direction, I went the other. I need to know if it's safe to use the tens with all of the metal in my knee. I'm having a lot of pain in my knee and I can't seem to get it to a tolerable level and cope with it. I know that I can use the tens on my left knee, but I am not sure about the knee replacement knee because of the electrical stimulation vs metal.
Please respond to me as soon as possible.

Thanks,
NaniKai

I tried it and it was fine...felt great actually. I placed the electrodes, one on each side of my lower leg and the same with the top. (You know, in pairs). I left it on for about two hours while I was watching some stuff online. I don't think that healing wise that it helped much but I wasn't looking for results to be right away. I want to use something on it other than the heating pad.
It was 111 here yesterday and will be 108 today, maybe 109, HOT!!!! I'm staying indoors all day. I got sick the other day from the heat, came home and about passed out in the kitchen. I was putting food away from the store...tried to get cooled off with the fridge being open, that didn't work so I opened the freezer door then I felt my legs start to give way. I made it to the sofa but was in cold sweats by the time I got there. I just kept thinking if I pass out home alone, that's not a good situation so I practically ran to the sofa.
DOES YOUR DOCTOR KNOW YOU DRIVE THREE HUNDRED MILES??? Could it be that if he knew HOW FAR you drive that he might not have released you this soon? Sounded like it was a long, hot day for you and I hope you got plenty of rest lastnight!!!
I went over to WalMart and got some stuff yesterday, ie, milk, cheese and eggs. My friend picked up the bags off the carousel then handed me the heaviest bag with the milk...I actually had trouble carrying it so I had to carry the entire bag up in my arms.
I should go but thank you for getting back to me on this post.

Hi Nani, Just got home from work and read your posting..I don't think it should bother it to use it. There is a lot of muscle and tissue between the skin and the metal, right? Let me know if I'm wrong!  Sorry no one in the know replied to you. My first day back at work, and I pick the hottest day of the year (well, dr released me, I didn't really have a choice). It was 110* Hopefully a little cooler tomorrow, only supposed to be 99* First day went okay, but found oput can't put carrier straps over my shoulder, still too sore. Arms & shoulders hurt tonight from driving 300 miles. Glad it will be a short week! Good luck with the TENS

I'll just use it and if I get zapped by it like metal in a microwave oven, I'll know better than to do it next time, huh...
seems no matter where I post this question it won't get a response so I'll just experiment...
