Tegretol Prozac=?

Tegretol Prozac=?

I have been on Tegretol for the past 3 months now for what my doctor calls a "cerebral disrhythmia" on the Temporal Lobule. I take 400mg a day (200mg twice a day). I have been feeling very dizzy and feeling strange tingling and heaviness in my head. I have also been on Prozac for 3 months (for panic sindrome (syndrome)) and I am wondering if these two just don't go well together and that is causing me to feel like this.
My initial simptoms were a constant feeling of ireality and dizziness accompanied by panic attacks. Now I don't have the ireality and the panic is better, but the dizziness is very similar. Do you think Tegretol is a good treatment for my case?
Thanks

Dear Pedro:

I am not sure what "cerebral disrhythmia" is????  If you have epileptic form discharges then likely you have epilepsy.  The tegratol is to keep you from having seizures.  If you are having side effects from the tegratol, then you need to tell your neurologist.  It might be that your level is not in the proper range.  Check with your neurologist.  Too high of a level might cause you dizziness.  If your level is too low and your epilepsy is breaking through, this might also be occuring.  So, tell your neurologist and see if she/he would like to get a tegratol level.

Sincerely,

I am also on tegretol, while my neurologist tries to identify my problems with numbness of the hands, legs and feet (oh those burning toes!).  Recently my Physiciatrist suggested my taking Prozac but cautioned me to speak to my neurologist about the level of tegretol because the Prozac can increase the effect of the tegretol, so the tegretol may have to be reduced if I add the Prozac.  Just my two cents from a recent Dr visit.

Dear Trish:

That is why we monitor levels of tegratol.  In addition, tegratol will affect it's own levels.

Sincerely,
