Temporary memory loss

My friend has recently confided in me that there was a 10 minute or so period of time where she did not know who her middle son was. She didn't recognize him or know his name but felt sure he must've been her child. She knew the other two boys. There was another episode that lasted about an hour in which she could think clearly but couldn't understand why the words coming out of her mouth were gibberish or elementary level. She said she has been tested for many things and nothing has been found to cause these problems. Anyone have any idea as to what can cause something like this?
