Tenderness over shunt site question

Hi all,
I'm just wondering if anyone who has had a shunt has continued tenderness over the shunt site. My partner had a VP shunt placed about 2 years ago after being diagnosed with a pineal cyst that led to a blockage. The doctors said that if there was a problem, the symptoms would generally return in the same order as they presented originally. It's just that the tenderness there has always remained, all the follow up MRI's are clear.

Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance!!
