My daughter is having surgery for tethered cord soon and I'm wondering how best, if at all, to heal or help her already damaged nerves heal. It's been a long road getting here - for most of her young life, we've had many tests, been to many doctors and hospitals to finally learn (after many other tentative diagnoses and treatments have not worked) to get to this one which we think is correctCorrect (new formula): Tethered Spinal Cord. I'm understanding from research and her doctors that there is differing opinions about if and how much any damage that may have been done might if at all, be healed. (Her symptoms include weaknessWeakness, tingling, pain, numbnessNumbness and tingling in legs, bladder issues and others). If you can give any insight, please let me know. Thanks so much.
Just curious, how was your daughter's tethered cord diagnosed? Does she have a fattyXanthoma filum or low hanging conus? Just curious because we have been trying to find a diagnosis for my daughter who has many of the same symptoms, but having difficulty with the doctors and coming up with a diagnosis.
Did she have urodynamic testing done?
Thanks.
