Tethered Spinal Cord Syndrome

I have TSC and do not want to have the surgery. How can this be treated other wise. I am 46 years old.

HI, I also have TCS and  have not had surgery...I was scheduled for it and my NS decided that it was better to tackle some of my symptoms from another approach...IE- posterior fossa decompression surgery for chiari....which can be caused by TCS.

I do have some bowel and bladder issues, but can manage them ok right now...so I am putting this one off as long as I can.

May I ask what symptoms u experience?

I have alot of back pain. Some times it feels like it is locked. Pain and numbness in my hips and legs, also weakness. A pulling feeling in my back. It hurts to stand or sit for very long. It keeps me awake a night.So far I don't have any bowl or bladder issues.Some  days are better than others. I wear a back brace on trips and have to use a walking cane from time to time. But I am tough and try to hang in there.

  Were u ever checked for Chiari?

Do u also have scoliosis that u wear the brace?

I have used a cane for over 10 yrs too, but I do have bowel and bladder issues, but I am managing them so far with diet, and meds.

I also get the pulling in the lower back...it is difficult to walk for long periods and even sitting can be hard...it all depends on the chair.

No, I have never been checked for Chian What is that? I wear a back brace to help support my back.
