My name is Bill Edwards.I developed Thalamic pain in 1997 about two months after my stroke. I am taking
Ticlid-Neurontin-Dibeta-Vit-E and for the pain I am taking two
UltramUltram
Ultram er each AM, 1 at noon, two at night. I absolutely could not make it without this. I find that 1/2 a tablet of Xanax (0.25) at AM and bedtime does also help. Being a Pharmacist I am aware that
UltramUltram
Ultram er is a moderate pain reliever, but it works. The pain is constant and at times really severe. It is difficult to find or hear from anyone with Thalamic pain, so if you are there or anyone can share with me, please do so.

I have seen several patients who have thalamic pain (usually from stroke). It is quite difficult to treat. We try (and perhaps you have tried) tricyclics such as
imipramineImipramine
Imipramine hydrochloride
Imipramine pamoate or
nortriptylineNortriptyline
Nortriptyline hydrochloride, membrane stabilizers such as
gabapentin and carbamazepine, and other medications. It is reassuring that Ultram has helped you - I'll keep that in mind for future patients.
