The place where they drew my blood is bruising. What should i do?

My father told me to put ice but after one day, the bruising looked worse. My mother also had her blood tested but she didn't show any sign of bruising.

it hurts when you put pressure on it.
is that normal?

Well, I got one like that, and in addition, it traveled all the way down my arm.  Even tho the bruise healed up fairly quick, that vein is still very blue, and it's been ten years.  My cousin got a VERY bad bruise, worse than in your picture, we were all terrified of it, but it also went away.  It was so bad, he went back to the doc and they decided it wasn't dangerous.  Anyhow, the answer is, yes, you do get bruises like that sometimes, and no, it's not normal... but it will go away.  Just ignore it, and in about two weeks, it'll start fading.  And don't be alarmed when it turns from blue to yellowish purple...that shows it's starting to heal.
