Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I have not had a tilt table test in about 3 years. I will ask my neurolgist if I need to be retested.
Again thank you for your time and answer.
Have a blessed day,
Janie
Hi there. During a table tilt test, when the body is turned to vertical position after lying flat and recording basal pulse, blood pressure and rhythm and ecg usually a patient of autonomic dysfunction will experience fall in heart rate and blood pressure and experience fainting. If you don’t experience this after 45 minutes, the medication isoproterenol may be injected intravenously. This lowers your diastolic blood pressure peripheral vascular resistance, increases heart rate and may prompt abnormal nervous system reflex which is involved in neurocardiogenic syncope. Then you will remain upright and be monitored for another 15 to 20 minutes.
If this test has come inconclusive you need to take up further tests and evaluation for ascertaining the reason for your symptoms.
Take care.
