Tingling and pains and other symptons so concerned!

About 4 mtns ago I started experiencing tingling in both my hands mostly, occasionally some toes on right foot, it past then about 6 weeks ago it started up again, now it is mainly in my left hand and arm, with scattered tingling on and off in patches, however I do have it elsewhere, toes feet, other arm etc. and the othe night I got a numb patch on my left thigh for a couple of seconds, I seemed to have developed some buzzing in my ear mainly at night, on one occasion I've felt lightheaded for about 1 hr, I get occasional pains in my left hand that last mostly 1/2 hour and sometimes this wierd sensation in my head like something is stuck! my doctor things it is mainly a result of stress but this happens when I feel relaxed. I unfortantly have become a real worrier and stress out a lot mainly over my health as for the past 3 years I have had chronic pain etc as a result of having colitis which I have as of yet not found anything to work. I am now so concerned and stressd that I might be getting some horrible neurological disease like MS, as I feel I just can't cope with anything else.  Please could you advise me on what to do, and should I be as concernd as I am about MS?
Thank you so much for taking the time out to read this email
Regards
Joanne

I was curious if anyone has had sharp electrial like shocks in their legs and or other parts of the body.   I am standing or sitting and out of the blue I scream like a bee is stinging me or I am being shocked then it's over  for a few minutes then back again. I was thinking blood clots/ What do you think? I guess this is pretty strange?

Thanks!

I have been on the internet all day trying to help my 43 year old sister out. She has extreem burning from her insides out and it feels like she is being attacked with a million pins and needles. It's attacking her entire body, including her eyes, nose, throat, etc. The doctor says she has Peripheral Neuropathy. She was diagnosed with Myasthesia Gravis about five years ago. Could these two problems be related? Is it possible to just wake up one day and have Peripheral Neuropathy? About six months ago she lost her sence of taste. Seems like most people have symtoms starting in one spot on their body, not the entire body. Her Neurology doctor is absolutely no help. He doesn't know what she has so he's brushed her off to her physician. Her physician is determined to get to the bottem of this problem. Has anyone in here ever experienced this pain on their entire body? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I want her to go to see an acupuncture specialist. I think these medications out there make things worse.

Respectfully,

Hi I as well have numbness and tingling in my hands and feet. I had a numb feeling in my right shoulder area the other day, it was almost like a dead feeling, scared me to death. I also have problems with my left hand and arm going numb and my little finger on my left hand was dead, couldnt feel it when i stuck a needle in it. I have a disk on a nerve between my shoulders and it really bothers me.I was in a car accident in feb. A car hit me and my mother in law as we were stopped in traffic and knocked us 3 car lengths down the road. Luckily I had my seat belt on or I would have been knocked into the windshield of the car. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was released sometime later that night early the next morning like 1 am.
I hope you all get better. Although I have been told that once you hurt your back you are messed up for life. I am just praying I dont have to have surgery.
Take care all,

I noticed in almost all of your postings that you keep mentioning MSG and Aspartame.  What about all the people that have all these symptoms that don't use or ingest any of that stuff?

I have just about all the symptoms that you have but no headache. My came out of no where one night when I was sleeping. I had the burning/aching in the front of both thighs and my calves felt heavy and achy and felt like they were going to cramp.  Since then, everything has moved up the back and into the arms and hands. You sound so similiar to me.  I am now going through all the bloodwork and will be having an EMG to test the muscles in my arms and legs, on 9/27.  This all started 2 months ago and I hate all of this.  I go to bed feeling great and wake up during the night with symtoms and everything got much worse.  Hopefully we will all get some answers soon.  Good luck!

Hi!

My case is almost similar to the ones posted here and I would like to share with you and get an advice. It all started 2 1/2 months ago with sharp pain under the ribs. It was so severe that i could not move or breathe. 2-3 episodes of same pain was felt on the same day.It went on with severe fatigue even though i was not not doing any work. There was light headedness also. Slight Pain under the ribs continued. Then the pain started in the muscles. It was like sharp pain in the muscles like electric shock and burning. That area became warm too.It was random. sometimes in the right arm, left arm, wrist shoulders, thighs, legs, foot and ankles.
On some days there was severe chest pain.I have seen my family doctor who conducted all the tests including chest x-ray,blood work, abdomen scan, bone scan, lime test. All the tests were normal. All these are so weird. What ever I do that day or some days before is coming on TV. All this is like a magic and crazy and adding to my worries.
Mean while I sarted getting severe headache which previously I was  not having at all. It was very severe and my left leg started becoming numb. Tingling, muscle tremors and burning sensation all continued. Fatigue was there all the time. I was suffering like hell and worried about what is happening to me all of a sudden.Neurologist ordered MRI of brain and EEG and they were okay too. I was taking Advil. Went to emergencies and the the trips only added to the bills.

Pain in the joints started . All joints especially knee joints. Both right and more so in the left.It was very very severe and I had swelling also.Seen a rheumatology and arthritis doctor. He prescribed celebrex and flexirol. But the pains continued. They were severe pains which made me worry and panic, was getting up at nights. One more month passed in severe pain and worry.

Seen other internal medicine doctors for second opinion. Not much help. All the pains are continuing on and off without any diagnosis. Recently started Yoga. Numbness in the left arm and left leg .Scheduled for nerve conduction tests. None of my family members or friends have had this before.Just going through all this and am totally cofused and worried about this
Please,Please any help/advice as to me or my situation.

Worried,

Your symptoms are difficult to localize to one area of the nervous system. Disease that affect multiple areas at once are quite rare, and usually other symtpoms give them away - for instance with MS the presence of vision loss, periods of weakness or clumisness in one arm or leg et c are more suggestive of neurological disease. Therefore, the chances are that you do not have a primary neurological disease. My advice is limited though, as I have not seen you, so you should followup with your doctors especially if one of the above symptoms develop. There is a battery of blood tests to look for the more common causes of sensory abnormalities like diabetes, vitamin B12, connective tissue disease. Tingling in the hands at night can be due to carpal tunnel syndrome - a pinched nerve at the wrist and can be evaluated by a nerve conduction study at your local neurologists office. The most important thing is not to worry too much now, but visit your doctor if the symptoms change or progress over time.

Good luck

Hi BigShot!
Didn't know if I should write you, but here it goes.
July 27th of this year, well it all started before this.  But on this date I was rushed to the Emergency Room, it all started with a very bad headache, the pain started down my neck into my right side, my face, down my arm and side, down my leg into my foot, than I was paralyzed.  Completely paralized on my right side, speech slurred, vission problems, the list goes on.  My blood showed a high count of white blood cells.  At first I was diagnosed with having a mini stroke (I am only 39 years old).  The symptoms lingered passed a normal episode of a mini stroke, so more tests were ran, they took every test under the sun.  They took spinal fluid from my spine, it showed high in proteins, and infection.  The first MRI-checked Muscles and Nerves, it came back showing nerve damage, they took a second MRI, only went deeper, all the way to the spinal cord, the MRI came back with a lot of inflamation along side of my spinal cord, etc.  Today I was given the news that shocked me to no end, I am still in shock actually.  I was asked if anyone in my family had MS, I said NO, not that I am aware of.  The Neurologist told me today that I have MS.  He told me not to worry, that now their is help out there for people with MS, that I can live a pretty normal life.  Not to worry.  This site is good for people to talk with each other and encourage each other, but please talk to a Neurologist, because the unkowing, and worring about something that may or may not exist can cause a lot of stress, anxiety, worry.  And that alone can make a person sick.  I don't know how old you are, but as we get older in life we have aches and pains.
Yes, I was diagnosed with MS, but it does not have to be a death sentence.  I plan on living my life to the fullest, and continue in my life with a positve out look on life, and I want you to do the same whatever your out come is.

hi bigshot.  i can relate to your post.  about seven weeks ago my right buttocks went numb. This lasted about an hour for no more than two days.  Then a week later I started noticing a tingling sensation in my right soulder. This too was only sporadic.  Then one night my right arm went numb, but this time this lasted for days. Then my right leg went numb. Well this time i went to the emg. room.  They suspected stroke, did a CT scan but found nothing.  The doctor asked if anyone in my family had MS. "No" I replied, not knowing anything about MS, only that I knew no one with the disease.  Well as soon as I got home I started researching MS.  I don't know if I convinced myself I have it or just freaked myself out because every since I have had one sympton afer another.  Tingling, burning, blurred vision, light headedness, zinging sensation in my back, sometimes I feel like sparks are flying and hitting me in the face, etc.  I have had brain MRI, and cervical MRI, both normal, as well as bloodwork also normal.  Two neuros, and family doc have told me this is stress and anxiety related.  I have been given Zoloft to help with stress.  I have had these "symptoms" for seven weeks, been on Zoloft 4 days will let you know if you like how it works.
