I know that the neck arteries are connected to the brain, which may possibly cause the noise in the ear a simulation of your pulse?I'm not to sure, as i am not a doctor, However I was a sufferer of tinnitus (whooshing) sound in my left ear, for several years... I'm sure what caused my tinnitus was smoking, i don't have evidence of this from a doctor, but knowing my own body smoking had something to do with it, such as high blood pressure... I was a 10 to 15 a day smoker for almost 15 years, i am only on my sixth day without smoking and noticed that the whooshing sound in my ear has improved 90% when i was a smoker the whooshing sound in my ear was unbearable, very loud and very, very annoying, the only time i had peace from this disease was when i was asleep.... Anyway to cut a long story short- Maybe you should consider quitting smoking? If your not a smoker, i would suggest that you go to your doctor, and get him/her to cheek for high blood pressure, please make sure that he/she checks the arm with the problematic ear, so if your left ear is giving you grief make sure he takes your blood pressure from your left arm and etc... There are probably many reasons why people suffer from tinnitus, i know for me that it had something to do with smoking, because once i quit the whooshing sound had improved so much, which has definitely given me a new life.....Hope this helps you...
