Toothaches the whole left side of my face HELP!

Toothaches the whole left side of my face HELP!

2 months ago i had i old filling redone and apprently it was so old and deep in my tooth that i begged the dentist to try to save the tooth from having a rootcanal and so he did. Afterwards he told me it was so deep that it might take awhile for the sensitivity to wear off. After a month my tooth started to hurt so i went back and they told me its just my tooth getting used to the heat\cold to give it time. I waited another month and by then i had such sever pain that i could not function at all on the daily basis. So i went back and she finally told me there is something wrong with it and prescribed me penicillin Vk and iburpropen and told me to set up an appointment to get a rootcanal done. i started to take the penicillin for 2 days felt better and then stopped taking them all together. another 2 weeks went by and i had the lingering pain in my left upper back molar again so i decided to take the penicillin and iburpropen until now. as of now im petrefied that i have a nerve that is rotting and affecting my sinuses and temple so bad that sometimes my left eye hurts. i dont know what to do im soooooo scared and dont want to die of a infection just need answers i dont have money for a rootcanal to be done but i can stand this pain. what should i do?
who should i go to first????ER? dentist or doctor?

Hi there. Toothache could be due to exposed tooth roots. The bacterial toxins dissolve the bone around the roots and cause the gum and the bone to recede, exposing the roots. This is called recession causing the exposed roots to become extremely sensitive to cold, hot and sour foods. Early stages of root exposure can be treated with topical fluoride gels or with special pastes like sensodyne. If the root exposure causes injury and death of the inner living pulp tissue, a root canal is essential.    A severe tooth abscess if left untreated may become large enough to perforate bone and extend into soft tissue eventually becoming osteomyelitis and cellulitis respectively. This may follow path of least resistance spreading internally and externally.   This may present as pus draining canal, ludwig’s angina, infection to tissue spaces of mediastinum, septicemia,   brain abscess and meningitis. You will need to report to the emergency department immediately and treatment would involve a concerted effort of a dentist, neurologist and an intensivist . Take care.
