Treatment for Paraplegia

I am 30 years old male from India suffering with paraplegia (both legs and paralysed, lost of control over bladder and bowel) after I had a fall from 50 feet height in august 2007. D11 and D12 were bursted and pelvic severely fractured. Laminactory surgery was done in september 2007 and steel plate was fixed at pelvic. Now I am undertaking physiotheraphy stimulation treatment from last 8 months but of no use. Now I cant sit on my own and cannot move my stomach and legs. Is there is any treatment for reversal of paraplegia? Please suggest me the best treatment available  at present. Thank you in advance.

Hello Dear,

I feel sad about your problem but you have to be patient and continue your physical therapy regularly .
A physiotherapy  program can facilitate the restoration of muscle strength, flexibility, improve mobility, coordination, and maintain body functions through exercise. Massage, hydrotherapy, and other treatments can help to relieve pain.

Gait training may be helpful when it is difficult to walk, which could include how to use assistive devices (e.g., walker, crutches or a cane).

Occupational therapy  teaches how to cope with everyday life. OT encourages independence by helping the with daily tasks such as dressing, bathing, food preparation, going to the toilet, and other activities of daily living.

Usually patients with sacral paraplegia can achieve functional independence for all mobility, self-care, and bladder and bowel skills.
So think positive and hope for the best.
Goodluck

Hi,
I hope I come acorss a correct forum. I thank Dr Naveen for the information shared. I have a similar incident with me now.
My father has fall down from a height of 17' feet and undergone a major surgery of D12 fracture. He is suffering from paraplegia now. Before the surgery he was not having any sensation to the right leg, after the surgery he got the sensation till the knee part. He lost the urinary and bowel sensation. It is almost 18 days that it has happened.
Can anyone please suggest what is the best way of medical treatments that we can approach?
Please provide even if you have a little amount of information. Please do not hesitate in sharing.
